Original WWII 6th Engineer Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) also called the unit crest. Screw back mounted on original car by N.S. Meyer. Overall very condition with cards exhibiting some staining and creasing. Crests have some wear to enamel.

The 6th Engineer Battalion served in two campaigns in the Second World War: New Guinea (with arrowhead indicating participation in the initial assault), and Luzon (also with arrowhead). The unit motto "CLAIRS CHÊNES N'OUBLIEZ JAMAIS" translates to "The Cleared Oaks - Never Forget Them". The crest is a silver oak wreath to represent the capture of Claris Chênes (The White Oaks) Woods on 20 October 1918. The arm is from the family crest of Captain C.D. Harris, a hero of that action.
