Veteran bring back- a very nice skinning knife that would have been paired with a "hirschfanger" hunting knife. Measures approximately 6 9/16 inches long with a 2 3/4 inch hilt. The hilt has a nice nickel pommel cap and the ferrule matches the cap. The antler grip is nicely age toned. The blade is a single edged type and shows some surface age and is marked J. Sedlmayr which could be the original owner's name. Leather sheath is also in excellent condition. Compare to a recent example sold at Wittman Antique Militaria for $250.
