Small plastic flowers given to donars of the Winterhilfswerk program. Yellow and white petals, possibly edelweiss, measuring about 5".

The Winterhilfswerk program was a German aid program for the poor that was held annually from 1933 to 1945. These inexpensive gifts created work for the unemployed and their sale helped fund programs for the poor during the winter months . Both the Hiltlerjugend (HJ) and the Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM) were active in collecting the donations and the program  helped the Nazi party gain favor with the German public. Initially the program was voluntary, but later became compulsory. By 1936, employers were required to donate part of an empoyee's salary to the organization.
